Byron Bay is a top spot and absolutely the best place we have visited so far. The beaches are gorgeous (except for the big blue jellyfish) and there is something about the town itself which makes you never want to leave. The Beach Hotel has tow big screens so you can watch the cricket and the tennis at the same time while sitting on the beach. There are a few very good restaurants and lots of interesting people. It's not just a town for young-uns though - there are lots of families and 'older Australians' spending there time there. Next Saturday when we win lotto, we're buying a house there.
We stayed at Suffolk Park, which is just outside Byron Bay, because all of the accommodation in Byron was already booked. It turned out pretty good in the end, because it is close enough to walk, but far enough away to sleep if you need to.
