exmouth
All throughout our trip people we'd met that had been there kept telling us Ningaloo Reef was as good as the Barrier Reef but better, because you can swim to it off the beach. This is true.
In Exmouth we stayed at Cape Range National Park. It was very windy and we broke two tent poles, but swimming out onto the reef was worth it. When we get the underwater camera pics developed, we'll scan them and put them up.

"Australia, America, Australia, America..." BOOM..."Here in America we don't tolerate that kind of crap SIR!"

G and Neil having a romantic sunset.

Picking G up from the hot, unairconditioned (due to the RAAF blowing something up nearby) airport. Which was, surprisingly, decorated like Daydream Island.

Hiding behind Rusty and our extremely clever windbreak..

Neil trying to kill the crab by looking at it.

Fossicking for hermit crabs (this is not the reef. And Neil is not a hermit crab).

"That was a good day's fishing. We caught three beers."

A bunch of crabs.

"Larissa is more pretty than she is intelligent." "No, she is more INTELLIGENT than she is BEAUTIFUL." "I'm not talking to you." "And I'm not talking to you."

"G, could you get the soap for me?"

"Check out my long...shadow."

Roadkill.

shark bay and monkey mia

"Beautiful..." "Intelligent..." "Stay on your side."

Me ignoring the lovers' tiff.

People lining up on the beach to watch the dolphins. Ten years ago it got to the stage where the dolphins were losing the ability to hunt, and revolting people were shoving cigarette butts and the like down their blowholes. Now they limit the amount of fish they give them, and the human interactivity.

You can recognise the dolphins by the shark bites in their fins.

Me dropping the fish and not wanting to pick it up in case of large bite.

Dolphins getting antsy for fish.

Piccolo, who refuses to eat fish from humans.

Neil managing not to drop the fish.

Packing up the tent for the last time.

stromatolites
Hamelin Pool is home to the oldest life forms on earth - stromatolites. Stromatolites were the first life forms that produced oxygen, and led the way for the development of all plant and animal life.
The oldest stromatolites are 3.5 billion year old fossils found in W.A.'s Pilbara region. These ones in Hamelin Pool are living stromatolites. The only other stromatolites in the world live in the Bahamas.

Neil and G feeling extremely underwhelmed. Also being extremely sarcastic.
