getting there
First we camped at Jourama Falls National Park and were majorly bugged out. While setting up the tent we got attacked by March flies, but that's no big deal. Once the sun set and the March flies finally went away, these little 3-4mm slimy worm/lavae like creatures affixed themselves to your skin by the hundreds. And if you tried to brush them off, even more would come. Hence the mad nudey dash to the tin shed and shower rose, to try and scrub them off and run back to the tent before any more stuck on. Unsuccessful venture. Jourama lasted one day.

Where the sticky bugs are at. Maybe one day we'll stop camping under trees... |
| We bought a compressor to blow up our bed every night, but it's too loud too use without annoying a lot of people. So Mandy kindly bought us a foot pump so we don't have to spend 45 minutes every night blowing our bed up. Now we spend 45 minutes pumping it up with our foot.. |

One of the nicer bugs at Jourama. We called him "Sticky". |
| Big Ted, the intrepid explorer. Or is he taking a squat? |

A little cow threatening to jump in front of our car. |
| Port Hinchinbrook, where we finally went troppo. Some one has built this massive marina, restaurant, yacht rental facility, accommodation (and much more!) but forgot to tell anyone about it. This photo is of Neil singing that he's glad the bugs have all fucked off (his words, not mine). |

mission beach
Mission Beach is like a little Byron Bay, just with more strange Queenslanders. It is more beautiful than Byron, but has less shops and places to have fun. We stayed in the coolest place - a treehouse backpackers hostel. Lauren and John - this is right up your alley. If you ever want to go on a holiday in far North Queensland, this is your cup of tea.

A beautiful jetty on Clump Point where we spent hours fishing. |

The far north's strange way of telling you not to speed. |
| The treehouse we stayed at. When we arrived there it was quiet time (between 1 and 4), so all the hippes were taking their afternoon nap on the floor. |

"Let's all get together and love one another..." |

Christmas Eve at the treehouse. Everyone had to make improvised enormous gifts for the others that were spending Christmas there. |

Avoiding cane toads. |
| Coconut Beach on Dunk Island. After this happy moment we went on a 10k walk (Riss with sneakers with no socks) up the rainforesty mountain and I was very cool and stepped on a black snake. |
